Elias J. "Lou" Zahar, 84, of Clifton on December 24, 2009. Born in W. Hoboken, Lou lived in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn before moving to Clifton in 1976. Lou was the owner of Zahar Manufacturing, which manufactured ladies garments and house coats, in Bay Ridge for 29 years. Later he worked for Lobel's in Paterson for 5 years, and was a sewing machine mechanic for the Allison Corp. in Livingston for 9 years, retiring in 1990. A parishioner of St. Paul's RC Church, Clifton, Lou was a Navy Veteran of WW II. Beloved husband for 46 years of Patricia (Hopkins). Dear brother of the late Joseph and Anthony Zahar, and Evelyn Sanky. Funeral Tuesday 11 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 12 Noon at St. Paul's RC Church. Interment, Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Paterson. Visiting Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
