Edward Anthony Zak, 93, of Passaic, passed away on March 18, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Passaic, he lived in the Clifton/Passaic area all of his life. An Army Veteran of WW II, Edward was a Commercial Artist and Art Director in New York City for many years and was a member of the Artist Club of Clifton. A parishioner of St. Joseph's RC Church, Passaic, Edward was a member of the St. Joseph Leisure Club and enjoyed Classical Music, Opera, Crossword Puzzles, painting and was an avid NJ Devil's Fan. Beloved husband for 61 years of Jane (Zimnoch) "Gigi". Devoted father of Diane Messina and her husband Joseph of Bloomingdale, Deborah Zak of Montclair, and Edward Zak and his wife Noreen of Livingston. Adoring grandfather of Douglas Messina and his wife Marielle, James Messina, Kerry and Kevin Zak. Cherished great grandfather of Dylan Edward and Adriana Alicia Messina. Dearest brother of his twin Sigmund of Clifton, Henry of Great Notch, and the late Michael, Chester and Sophie. Dear brother in law of Eleanor and Edith Zak, Joseph Zimnoch and Pat Trawinski. Loving uncle of several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews of the Zak, Trawinski, Zimnoch and Bania families. Funeral Saturday 8:15 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 9:30 AM at St. Joseph's RC Church, Passaic. Interment, St. Michael's Cemetery, South Hackensack. Visiting Thursday 7-9 PM and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
