Edward J. Maksym, Sr., 83, of Clifton, passed away on October 8, 2014. Born in Passaic, he lived in Clifton for many years and Wallington, returning to Clifton in 2011. An Army Veteran of the Korean War, Ed was a Caterer for 50 years and had been the Owner of Teddy's Catering in Passaic, retiring in 1987. An active parishioner of St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton, Ed was a member of the Holy Name Society, the Leisure Club, the Golden Circle, ran the kitchen for the Annual Parish Picnic, and prepared numerous Communion Breakfasts and Beefsteak Dinners. Devoted husband for 49 years of the late Phyllis (Hewrycz) who passed away in 2004. Beloved father of Janet Debiak and her husband Matthew of Clifton, and Edward J., Jr. and his wife Rosemary. Adoring grandfather of Kimberly Siery. Loving brother of the late Genevieve Tyma, Joseph, Sr., Benjamin, Wanda Marthouse, Eugene, Lee Rys and Stephanie Pritch. Loving uncle of many nieces and nephews. Funeral Tuesday 9 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 AM at St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton. Interment, East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton. Visiting Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
