Dorothy Mary O'Shea passed away peacefully at her home in the company of her family on February 21, 2026, at the age of 96. Dorothy lived a remarkable life, filled with love, faith, and devotion to her family. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Joe O'Shea, for 58 years until his passing in 2006
Born in 1929 to Hubert and Francis Bremer, Dorothy was a testament to the values of kindness, perseverance, and forgiveness. She graduated from Pope Pius XII High School in 1948 and worked at Bankers Trust and Athenia Steel before dedicating herself to raising her five children alongside Joe. Later, she worked at New Jersey Bank (now PNC Bank) for 25 years before retiring. Dorothy remained active, developing computing skills, researching her family's ancestry, and serving St. Paul Church as the corresponding secretary of its Rosary Society for over 20 years.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Joseph Michael O'Shea, Patricia O'Shea, William (& Deborah) O'Shea, Nancy (& Glenn) Wolkovitsch, and Daniel O'Shea, and six grandchildren: Vanessa, Edward, Carl, Kelly, Megan, and Shawn; and five great-grandchildren: Leah, Evan, Dean, April, and Tristan. She is also survived by her siblings Hilda Heinz, Elizabeth Albers, and William Bremer, as well as sisters-in-law Mary Bohny and Catherine Bannon. In addition to her husband Joe, she was predeceased by her brother Hubert and his wife Jean, sister-in-law Barbara Bremer, and brother-in-law Tom Heinz.
Visiting Friday, February 27, 2026, from 4 PM to 8 PM at Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton, NJ. Funeral Saturday, February 28, 2026, 7:45 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 9 AM at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Clifton, NJ. Entombment, Calvary Cemetery, Paterson, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul Church, 124 Union Avenue, Clifton, NJ 07011, or The Salesians of St. John Bosco (Salesian Society, Inc., Province of St. Philip the Apostle) 148 Main Street, Box 639, New Rochelle, NY 10801, or any church or educational charity of your choice.
Dorothy will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched.
