Obituary

Dorothy L. Kochik, 87, born January 31, 1935 to Dorothy and Louis Rehwald, went home to be with her husband, the late Raymond Kochik, on June 29, 2022. Dorothy was born and raised in Springfield, IL, until she met and married Ray in August 1953 and moved Anchorage, AK. They lived there until Ray was discharged from the Air Force and then moved to Passaic, where she lived the remainder of her life. Dorothy was involved in the schools until her daughters all graduated. She worked for Beth Israel Hospital, Passaic, as ward secretary before she went to work for Passaic Medical Associates in late 70's and continued working through the merge with New Jersey Physicians and then later with Summit Medical. She partially retired in 2011 and fully retired in January 2018. After retirement, Dorothy was busier than when she was working. She joined many senior citizens clubs and enjoyed going on their day trips, whether it be a casino trip, a trip to see a play, or whatever they had going on that week, and was the Vice President of the Young at Heart Group.

Dorothy is survived by her brother Wilbert Rehwald of Mechanicsburg, IL, her daughter, Marge Nycz and her husband John of Clifton, Joan Maskal and her former husband John of East Rutherford, Kathy D'Amato and her husband Andy of Clifton, her grandchildren Steven and his wife Andrea of Elmwood Park, Lauren, Jonathan, Andrew and Anthony, all of Clifton, and Kimberly Eckerson and her husband Jon of Westbrookville, NY. Dorothy also has two great grandchildren, Ryan, son of Steve and Andrea, and Evie, daughter of Kimberly and Jon. She was also the Aunt and Great Aunt to many nieces and nephews from New Jersey and Illinois.

Visitation Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 2-4PM & 7-9PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Funeral Wednesday, July 6, 2022 8:45 AM at the funeral home and 10AM at St. Clare RC Church, 69 Allwood Rd., Clifton. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Saddlebrook.

In lieu of flowers, donations made in Dorothy's name to VHS Hospice of New Jersey, 3 Garret Mountain Plaza, 4th Floor, Woodland Park, NJ 07424, would be greatly appreciated.
