Bonkowski
January 2, 2023
Dolores (Neri) Bonkowski, 84, of Clifton, NJ passed away peacefully at home on January 2, 2023. She was born in Amsterdam, NY on August 25,1938 to Frances Raia and Michael Neri. Dolores moved to New Jersey in 1956 where she met Thomas Bonkowski, with whom she shared 39 happy years of marriage until Tom's passing in 1997.
Dolores enjoyed socializing with her friends and she was very active in the community. She was a member of St. Brendan RC Church. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus 3969 Columbiettes, the AARP 1995 Clifton Chapter, the Botany Village Seniors and the Jubilee Jewels. Dolores loved to organize and participate in any upcoming event and she never missed a party or a bus trip -- which always elicited funny stories that she loved to share!
In addition to working as a paraprofessional for the Clifton Board of Education, Dolores was a devoted Mom and a proud Grandma. She was always ready to go above and beyond for her family, whether hosting holidays, cooking meals, babysitting, doing school pickups or baking for a fundraiser. You could find her in the audience cheering on her grandsons at every single school event, piano concert or soccer game. She also loved spending time with her grandpets Twizzler, Gaby and Kirby.
Dolores is survived by her loving daughters Barbara Szewczyk and Holly Posnett and sons-in-law Marc and James, and her cherished grandsons Owen and Gareth Posnett. She is also survived by special nieces Deborah Riccio and Carolyn Mazzotta, nephews Michael and Anthony Riccio, as well as extended family members and many wonderful friends. Dolores was predeceased by her dear sister, Mary Ann Riccio.
