David J. Eagler, 84, of Clifton, passed away on August 1, 2011. Born in Garfield, he lived in the Athenia Section of Clifton for the past 57 years. A parishioner of St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton, David volunterred on the Picnic Committee for many years, was a member of AARP and the Tennessee Squire Club. A Navy Veteran of WW II, David served on the U.S.S Tyrrell and was a member of the Athenia Veterans Post, where he was a Trustee for many years, the Quentin Roosevelt American Legion Post # 8, Clifton, and the Pavlick-Koster VFW Post # 2460, Wallington. David was a Brake Line Operator for Raybestos Manhattan Rubber Co. in Passaic for 20 years, later he was a Foreman in the Clifton Division of PSE&G, where he worked for 26 years, retiring in 1986, and was a member of the MTJ Metal Trade Journeyman, Local # 855, Jersey City. Beloved husband for 62 years of Olga (Fedenkiewicz). Devoted father of Clifton City Councilman Peter Eagler and Virginia Eagler, both of Clifton, and John Eagler and his wife Jeane Maffei of Anotich, CA. Loving grandfather of Hogan and Jessalyn, Cherished great grandfather of Riley. Funeral Friday 9 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 AM at St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton. Cremation Private.
