Chris Mattheou, MD, 88, of Passaic passed away on May 21, 2016. Born in Vytina, Greece, Chris came to the US in 1957 and first settled in New York City and lived in Jersey City, Dover and Long Island before moving to Passaic 45 years ago. A parishioner of St. George GO Church, Clifton, Dr. Mattheou was an Orthopedic Surgeon in private practice in Passaic for 45 years. He was a member of the Medical Society of NJ, the Passaic County Medical Society, the NJ Orthopedic Society, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the Eastern Orthopaedic Association, and the Hellenic Medical Society of NY.

Beloved husband for 51 years of Sophie (Butler). Devoted father of Constantine of Denville, Peter of Passaic, Anna Mayman and her husband Thomas of Somerset, England, and Katherine Santangini and her fianc é Matthew Flacche of Mt. Holly. Cherished grandfather of Zachary, Alexander, Isabella and William. Dear brother of George, Harry and Katherine Mattheou, all of Greece.

Funeral Friday 10:45am at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 12pm at St. George GO Church, Clifton. Entombment, East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton. Visiting Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
