Cesar Chan
Ong
January 29, 2021
Cesar Chan Ong
of Passaic, NJ passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 at the age of 72. After a nine-day battle with COVID-19, Cesar died peacefully with his beloved wife Caroline and his children nearby.
Born in Manila, Philippines, Cesar worked with his family's business in the Philippines before immigrating to the U.S. in 1981. His work ethic and devotion to take care of his family while pursuing the American dream led to a range of experiences which included being in the kitchen at the famed Cupping Room and working for the United Nations. Cesar's inherent entrepreneurial spirit led to opening his own businesses — a hardware store, toy store, and convenience store over the years. Cesar later served as a traffic officer for the City of Clifton for 4 years prior to retiring. He lived in New York, Jersey City, and Clifton before settling in Passaic 3 years ago.
Beloved husband of Caroline Tan Ong. Devoted father of Chez Bryan Ong and Cheryline Brenda Ong Prestolino. Cherished grandfather of Luna Rei Juarez Ong and Olivia Rose Ong Prestolino. Loving brother of Antonio Ong, Betty Ting and Dick Ong. Caring cousin of Nelson Chan. Adoring uncle of Eric Anthony Ong and Grayson Pearce Ong.
Funeral arrangements were private under the direction of Shook Funeral Home,
639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, NJ
