Carmela Pittari Miragliotta, 88, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2020 surrounded by the love of her children and grandchildren. She was born on May 8, 1931 in Sicily coming to the United States in 1948, and settling in Passaic before moving to Clifton 66 years ago.

She worked for Edmar Creations in Clifton, retiring to join her children in the family business they named after her, Carmela's Bakery and Deli, for 17 years. She was fondly recognized in her neighborhood as the "Cookie Lady."

She was a parishioner of St. John Kanty R.C. Church, Clifton. Carmela was very proud of her grandchildren and derived so much joy from her great-grandchildren. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling to Italy and spending winters in Sunrise, Florida.

Carmela was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore who passed away in 1987. Carmela is predeceased by her parents Basilio and Antonina, her brothers Carmen, Joseph, Salvatore, her best friend Rosalia, and son-in-law Bob.

She is survived by her devoted children and their spouses Anthony and Annmarie, Giuseppe and Chrissy, Antoinette Comprelli, Mary and Ron Scilla, and her sister Rosa Lo Cascio. Carmela is also survived by her adoring grandchildren and their spouses, Allison and Dan, Gina and Brian, Lauren, Donna and Doug, Salvatore, Anthony, and Nick and eight great-grandchildren Sophia, Brian, Sean, Charlotte, Jake, Grace, Max and Claire. Also left to remember her are many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Friday 8:45 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 AM at St. John Kanty RC Church. Entombment, Calvary Cemetery, Paterson. Visiting Thursday 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
