Candido Arroyo, 84, of Newark passed away on November 10, 2015. Born in Puerto Rico, he lived in New York before moving to Newark many years ago. Owner of Arroyo Supermarket for 40 years, retiring 7 years ago, Arroyo was a District Leader within the North Ward, and was the Founder of the Homeowners and Merchants Association of North Newark. Beloved husband for 45 years of Mercedes (Borrero). Devoted father of Maritza, Aracelis, Candido and his wife Maria, and Jeanette. Dear brother of Jose, Miguel, Rueben, Nicholas, Mayito, Julia, Carmin, Luz Maria and Edilia. Grandfather of 5, great grandfather of 3. Funeral Saturday 8 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 9:30 AM at St. Michael's RC Church, 172 Broadway, Newark. Interment, East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton. Visiting Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
