Bronislaw Joseph Waksmundzki, 91, of Passaic, passed away on September 25, 2016. Born in Waksmund, Poland, he came to the US in December of 1927 and lived in Johnstown, PA, before moving to Passaic many years ago.
An Army Veteran of WW II, Bronislaw was a
recipient of both the Bronze Star and a
Purple Heart. A parishioner of St. Joseph's RC Church, Passaic, Bronislaw served as a Lector and Usher for many years.
Captain Waksmundzki was the Traffic Division Commander for the Passaic Police Department, where he worked for 40 years, retiring in 1990, and was a member of the Passaic PBA Local #14.
Bronislaw was a member of the Wallington Knights of Columbus Council #3644, the Chopin Singing Society, and the Rosol Dul American Legion Memorial Post #359, Passaic.
Beloved husband for 61 years of the late Janet (Kopec) who passed away in 2011. Devoted father of Raymond and his partner Frank of West Orange, Bronislaw and his wife Yon Suk of New Egypt, Janet Karpiak and her husband Basil, Jr. of Norwalk, CT., Gerard and his wife Susan of Passaic, James and his wife Michele of Passaic, Stacie Francisco and her husband Paul of Roseland, and the late Christopher. Dear brother of Henry of Clifton. Loving grandfather of 6.
Funeral Thursday 9:45 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 11 AM at St. Joseph's RC Church, Passaic. Interment, St. Michael's Cemetery, South Hackensack. Visiting Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
