Bert John Hilscher, 70, of Hopatcong passed away on February 4, 2022. Born in Englewood, Bert was raised in Teaneck and later settled in Hopatcong. He worked for Reinertsen Motors SAAB dealer for 20 years. The joy of his life was the love of his family, especially his grandchildren. Bert was an avid fisherman who enjoyed the water of the Florida Keys up to the beaches of Sandy Hook. He also loved all animals, especially dogs, and bred, raised and trained Doberman Pinchers and Rottweilers throughout his entire life.

Devoted father of Alyson Hilscher and her partner Michael Alvarez. Cherished grandfather of Marley Roff and Michael John Alvarez, Jr. Dear brother of Steven Hilscher, Sr., Jeffry Scott Hilscher and his wife Myrna, Sharon West and her husband Kenneth, Lorraine Von Rudenborg and her late husband Gary and the late Thomas Joseph Hilscher, the late Mildred Hilscher and the late Darlene Gillett. Loving uncle of Kenneth Jr., Andrew and Darren West, Garrett Von Rudenborg, Edward Jr. and Max Gillett, Michael Jr. and Thomas Dunleavy, Airika Lynn Poch, Crystal and Geoffrey Hilscher and the late Steven Hilscher, Jr.

Cremation was private under the direction of Compassionate Cremation Services, Clifton.
