Bernice (Rudnicki) Berdnik, 94, of Clifton passed away on June 27, 2021. Bernice was born in Lwów, Poland, in 1927. During WWII, Bernice, then 14 years old, and her brother, Anthony, were taken to a Siberian hard labor camp. Miraculously both Bernice and Anthony survived, and found refuge at an orphanage called Colonia Santa Rosa in Guanajuato, Mexico. Bernice came to the US on February 9, 1946, which is where she later met her husband, Basil. They lived with an Aunt in NY, who sponsored them, and later in Passaic before settling in Clifton and raising their family. Bernice worked for Platronics Seals, Clifton, and also as a seamstress for Mr. Kit Furriers in NY before retiring.
Bernice enjoyed tending to her garden, crocheting, and cooking. She had a loving relationship with Basil's family, and together they shared many laughs and celebrations. Bernice adored her family to whom she was lovingly referred to as Babcia, Cioci, Pra Babcia, Bronia and Bronislawa.
Beloved wife of the late Basil Berdnik who passed away in 2010, June 28, 2021 would have been their 69 th wedding anniversary. Devoted mother of Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik and his wife Monica of Clifton and Edward Berdnik of Somerville. Loving grandmother of Ashley Jaramillo and her husband Oscar, Ryan Berdnik and his wife Rosalina, Alyssa Araujo and her husband Stephen and Kevin Berdnik and his fiancée Caitlin Caliguire. Cherished great grandmother of Josefina Jaramillo. Dear sister of the late Anthony "Tony" P. Rudnicki and his wife Zinada "Zinny". Loving aunt of her nieces Annie and Tina.
The family wishes to thank the following individuals for their love, support and care, especially in Bernice's final days: Ula Kowalek, Krystyna Bladek and Alicia, Dr. Jeffrey Gold, Msgr. Geno Silva, Fr. Bill Naughton and her lifelong family doctor, Dr. Robert Gajdos.
Visiting Tuesday 4 – 8 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Funeral Service Wednesday 10 AM at St. John the Baptist RC Cathedral, Paterson. Interment private.
