Basil Berdnik, 86, of Clifton on May 17, 2010. Born in Zawieluwie, Polesie, Poland, he came to the US in 1951 and lived in New York and Garfield, before moving to Clifton 53 years ago.

A parishioner of St. Joseph's RC Church, Passaic, Basil was a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanical Engineer for Hoffmann-LaRoche in Nutley for 33 years, retiring in 1989. Basil was a Polish Army Veteran under English command during WW II. A member of the Roche Retirees, Basil was also a Volunteer for the Clifton Cablevision Channel for many years.

Beloved husband for 57 years of Bernice (Rudnicki). Devoted father of Richard and his wife Monica of Clifton, and Edward of Somerville. Dear brother of Anastasia Lazor of Clifton, Lydia Wyskwarski, Teena Dubicki, and Stephen, all of Floral Park, NY, Jane Golinowski of New Hyde Park, NY, Victor of Wallingford, CT, and the late Paula Szwabowski, Natalia Dudzinski, and Walter. Loving grandfather of Ashley, Ryan, Alyssa, and Kevin.

Funeral Thursday 8 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 9 AM at St. Joseph's RC Church, Passaic. Interment, Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, Doylestown, PA. Visiting Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. www.shookfh.com
