Arthur Pearce Hines, Jr., 87, of Clifton on May 30, 2009. Born in Paterson he was a resident of Clifton most of his life. A 1942 graduate of Clifton High School Arthur worked for Curtiss-Wright Aeronautics in Wood Ridge during WW II and was the first worker to be selected to operate the IBM machine. He started his career selling used cars, but became a Licensed Real Estate Broker for 63 years. Arthur's active Real Estate Office in South Paterson saw 30-40 brokers go through his office, many of whom started their Real Estate Careers with him. Arthur started jogging in 1946 and many would see him jogging to work in his suit. Arthur received his Bachelor's Degree, Magna Cum Laude, in 1981 from Montclair State College. Arthur was an avid reader and loved ancient history books, enjoyed old movies and radio shows and was a fan of Dr. Bernie Meltzer. He loved Hot Grill in Clifton where he went often, and after dinner always had ice cream at Bond's or Carvel. Husband of the late Margaret Chadwick Hines who died in 2003. Devoted father of Arthur P, III and his wife Frances of Boonton, Kevin and his wife Shannon of Daleville, Va., Douglas and his wife Sandra of Lincoln Park, and Jennifer Hines of Wayne. Dear brother of Mazie Fahsbender of Sparta and the late James. Loving grandfather of Robert, Kenneth, Caitlin and Lauren. Funeral Monday Evening 7:30 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Visiting Monday 4-8 PM. Cremation Private.
