Antonio R. Aviles, 61, of Clifton passed away on October 1, 2016. Born in New York City, Tony was raised on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and also lived in Brooklyn before moving to Clifton in 1995. A US Army veteran of the Vietnam Era, he was an expert M16 marksman in the 6th infantry Berlin Brigade. Tony was an "A" Journeyman Electrician for 36 years with IBEW Local #3 and a member of their Santiago Iglesias Educational Society. He was also a member of the 5 Boroughs Club of NYC in The Villages, Florida. Tony loved to golf and was very tech savvy. Lovingly referred to as the "Coupon King", Tony was a smart shopper. He was very handy and creative with his tools. Never without a gadget, he was an amateur photographer and true movie aficionado.
Beloved husband for 32 years of Aida (Lopez). Devoted father of Antonio L. of NY, and Christopher and Melissa of Clifton. Dear brother of Richard and his wife Sonia of Harrisburg, PA, and the late Carmen Casteneda. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews. Tony will be dearly missed by his faithful canine companions Ollie and Nanook, who he referred to as his "best buddies".
Funeral Saturday 7:45AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton, and 9AM at St. Paul's RC Church, Clifton. Cremation, East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton. Visiting Friday 4-8PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Fred Torres Memorial Fund, PO Box 268, Kingston, NJ 08582, in memory of Tony would be greatly appreciated.
