Anna (Basynjuk) Cherbetko, 88, of Passaic, passed away on September 19, 2012. Born in Poland, she lived in the Ukraine and came to the US in 1949, settling in Passaic. An active parishioner of Ukrainian Orthodox Holy Ascension Cathedral, Clifton, Anna was instrumental in the building of the church in Clifton and served as Chairperson of the Building Committee. Anna also worked on the Pierogi Committee, the Parish Picnic, was a 50 year member of the Choir, and member of the Ladies Auxiliary for over 25 years and was a Past President. Before retiring in 1986, Anna was a Wire Drawer for Westinghouse in Bloomfield for 20 years. Beloved wife of the late Michael who passed away in 2005. Devoted mother of Nicholas and his wife Olga of West Milford, and the late Luba A. Baran who passed away in 1982. Loving sister of 4 brothers, all in the Ukraine. Funeral Saturday 8:30 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 9:30 AM at Ukrainian Orthodox Holy Ascension Cathedral, 635 Broad St., Clifton, NJ 07013. Interment, East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton. Visiting Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home, with Parastas at 7:30 PM.
