Andrew L. Gentile, Jr., 71, of Passaic, passed away on December 26, 2011. Born in Passaic, he attended Lodi High School and has been a resident of Passaic most of his life. A parishioner of St. Andrew the Apostle RC Church, Clifton, Andrew was a Navy Veteran during Peacetime. A Police Officer with the Passaic Police Department, Andrew retired in 1988 as a Sergeant after 22 years of service. Later he worked for Walter J. Tencza, Esq. in Passaic as a Paralegal for many years. Active in Passaic City Politics during the 1990's, Andrew served as a Councilman for one term on the Passaic City Council and was a member of the Passaic Board of Education for two terms. A member of the Passaic Lyons Club, Andrew was also an Honorary Member of the Filipino Club of Passaic. Beloved husband for 47 years of Judy (Paz). Devoted father of Valarie Gentile. Loving grandfather of Justin. Dear brother of Lorraine Tierney. Best friend of Tal Ubaldini. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be sadly missed by his canine Buddy Boy "Bentley". Funeral Friday 9 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 AM at St. Andrew the Apostle RC Church, Clifton.
