Amelia Dorothy (nee Augusciak) Hill, 89 of Newton, NJ departed from this life on January 28, 2011.
She was born in Passaic NJ on October 12, 1921 and lived there most of her life. She was predeceased in 2007 by her husband and love of her life Kenneth A .Hill. They had been married 65 years. Amelia continued her life surrounded by the people who loved her and cared for her, most importantly her three children who were with her at bedside when she passed.
Amelia is survived by her loving sons and their wives, Kenneth and Robin Hill of Lakeland, Fl. and Robert and Donna Hill of Covington, La. and her devoted daughter and her husband Diane and Paul Schuchert or Wantage, NJ. Beloved grandmother of Kristin Lozado and her husband Joseph of Westtown, NY, Meghan Hill of NY, NY, Alison Hill of Greenwich, CT, Paul Schuchert of Wantage, NJ and Alexander Hill of Covington, La. Amelia is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Jadon Lozado, Kate "Amelia" Lozado, and Ryan Lozado of Westtown, NY. She was predeceased by her brothers Joseph Augusciak, Alexander Augusciak, Stanley Augusciak and a sister Helen Augusciak. She was the daughter of Konstantin and Rose Augusciak.
After graduating from Passaic High School, Amelia worked as an executive secretary to a very important scientist at Becton Dickinson. She met and married her husband during World War II. Upon his return from war she took on the role as a policeman's wife and supported her husband in his career. She watched proudly as he was promoted over the years till he became Chief of Police of the City of Passaic. Her greatest role in life was raising her three children and helping at their school, she was even a school nurse for a while. She took part-time work as her children got to college age at Passaic High School as a baker. She also took care of her Mother in law over the years. She was a special lady who loved to read mystery novels and do word puzzles. She loved spending time with her grandchildren going to their sporting and academic events and playing games with them.
She lived from 2004 until 2009 at Van Dyke Senior Apartments in W. Milford, and recently residing at Valley View Care Center in Newton, NJ to be closer to her daughter's home. It was there she received the excellent care she needed by a caring and loving staff. She liked playing Bingo and was very good at trivia and loved singing and music from her dancing days. Her ability to remember facts and details was amazing and her fountain of information will be greatly missed. When asked once what her favorite saying was she replied "Always treat others as you would like to be treated yourself"
Funeral Tuesday 9 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 AM at St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton. Interment, Calvary Cemetery, Paterson. Visiting Monday 5-8 PM.
