Alfreda (Wrubel) "Freda" Soojian, 91, of East Patchogue, LI, passed away on May 14, 2013. Born in Passaic, she lived there before moving to Mastic and later East Patchogue, Long Island, many years ago. After her mother passed away at a young age, Freda, the oldest of 8 children, became the mother to all of her younger siblings. Freda was a loving wife, mother and sister to her family and was always lending a helping hand even to strangers. Freda worked as a companion for the elderly and disabled, often staying at their homes for days, sometimes weeks, providing loving care to all. Freda loved to knit and crochet and was an avid gardener. Beloved wife of the late Jacob who passed away in 1980. Devoted mother of Lawrence "Larry" and his wife Rose of Kissimmee, FL, and the late Alan who passed away in 2008. Loving sister of Matthew Wrubel of Wallington, and the late Jean, Genevieve, Mary, Lorraine, Stanley and Edward. Cherished aunt of several nieces and nephews. Funeral Saturday 9:30 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Interment, St. Michael's Cemetery, South Hackesnack. Visiting Saturday 8:30-9:30 AM at the funeral home.
