Alfred A. Russo, 86 of Manchester, formerly of Clifton, passed away on December 4, 2017. Born in Passaic he lived most of his life in Clifton, before moving to
Manchester in 2003.
A Clifton High School Graduate of the Class of 1948, Al attended Seton Hall University and Rutgers University leading to a successful career as a Marketing Representative with John Hancock Life Inc., Co. in Fair Lawn for 34 years, retiring in 1988.
After retiring, Al worked as the limousine driver, doorman and pall bearer for Shook Funeral Home, for 15 years.
In Clifton, Al was an active parishioner of St. Clare's RC Church where he served as President of the Holy Name Society and was Head Usher for many years.
After moving to Manchester, Al enjoyed being a member of the Men's Club of Renaissance, the Bocci Club, the Shuffleboard Club, as well as many other clubs.
Al liked the Jersey Shore, especially walking on Spring Lake's Boardwalk. He also enjoyed the NY Yankees, Notre Dame Football, and his Tuesday and Thursday nights playing cards and Dominoes.
Beloved husband for 62 years of Eileen (Ducey). Devoted father of Gail Paone and her husband Richard of Manchester, and Rosemary Ficarra and her husband Gaetano of Woodland Park. Loving grandfather of Dr. Jeffrey Paone and his wife Erin, Anthony Ficarra, Andrea Ficarra and her fiance Gregory Magliano, and Thomas Ficarra. Cherished great grandfather of Emilia and Brendan Paone. Dear brother of the late Lorraine Perugino.
Funeral Saturday 8:45 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 AM at St. Clare's RC Church, Clifton. Interment, East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton. Visiting Friday 3-7 PM at the funeral home.
